Community

Did you know you can benefit from the University's institutional memberships?

As a member of the University you can take advantage of associations and institutional memberships, including:

  • the Association of Learning Technology (ALT)
  • the Educause Learning Initiative (ELI), and
  • the Online Learning Consortium (OLC)

Please let us know if there are any other institutional memberships relating to technology in learning and teaching?

Tell us what tools you are using for teaching and learning:

Fill in the teaching form to tell us how you are using technology and your work could feature on this site, and we can all understand better how staff are teaching at Oxford.

Labs

We are working with academics to gather information for our 'labs' to foster communities around experimenting and sharing practice in the following areas:

  1. digital teaching practices
  2. student engagement in lectures (e.g. classroom polling)
  3. virtual classrooms (video conferencing for teaching and learning)
  4. virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR)

Although these are all under construction we want each lab to provide you with:

  • a comparative guide to the tools available
  • how to get the help of a learning technologist
  • suggestions for how to evaluate
  • events
  • SIGs
  • webinars
  • mail-lists

Book a consultation

You can book a learning technologist to help you implement and evaluate the tools in your teaching and learning. For example:

  • Short initial meeting (1–2 hours)
  • Workshops and training (3–4 hours)
  • Intensive side-by-side support, helping to trial tools and approaches (e.g. 2–5 days over a term)

More in-depth support is available but may be chargeable.
